Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin partner for car charging network

Drivers of electric cars will soon be able to make the full loop around Lake Michigan without worry of not finding a place to recharge along the 1,100 mile long route. Because of a recent partnership announced by the states that border Lake Michigan (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin), the Great Lakes region is now much more drivable for electric vehicles.

"Making our beautiful coastal communities not only more accessible to EVs but protecting them through lower emissions is a win-win for Wisconsin," said Gov. Evers. "We're proud to support this multi-state partnership as we work to implement our first-ever Clean Energy Plan and continue our efforts to bolster Wisconsin's tourism industry."

This partnership is a benefit to citizens of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin because of economic and political interstate cooperation, more tourism, increased access to charging networks, and the environmental benefits that occur from increased EV adoption as charging capacity becomes more available.

The partnership will construct and manage upkeep for the chargers. Officials from the agreement have said that many of the chargers are already in place, with the project completing within a few years.
