Sioux Falls artist entrepreneur workshop series scheduled

SIOUX FALLS, SD - A new initiative aimed at helping visual artists in Sioux Falls sharpen their business skills is launching this month. The Watering Can, a local arts organization, has partnered with Startup Sioux Falls to offer a series of free workshops under the "Artist Toolkit for Success" program. These workshops are designed to teach vital business skills to artists, ensuring they can build sustainable careers around their creative work.

The series runs from September through May, with sessions held on the second Tuesday of each month. Led by business coach Claudia Dail, founder of The Watering Can, alongside artists Alex Lunstra and Julie Dent, the workshops cover a wide range of topics. Artists can expect to gain insights into marketing, accounting, branding, and other crucial skills necessary to thrive in today’s competitive market.

The workshops take place at The Underground by Rehfelds in downtown Sioux Falls, but are also available online via Facebook Live, making them accessible to those unable to attend in person. Organizers hope this initiative will encourage artists to stay in Sioux Falls and continue to contribute to the city’s vibrant arts community.

This effort reflects a broader push to support the growing arts scene in Sioux Falls, emphasizing the importance of helping artists transition from creators to successful entrepreneurs. By providing these free resources, the city hopes to retain its creative talent and further enrich its cultural landscape.
