Within the United States, Chicago stands as the third most popular city, with at least 10 states showing a preference for relocating there. New York City and Portland, Oregon, are the only two cities ahead of Chicago, each being the top choice for residents of 12 other U.S. states.
The allure of Chicago seems to resonate most strongly in the Midwest. States such as Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio, Kentucky, and Kansas, along with Vermont and New Hampshire outside the Midwest, are particularly drawn to Chicago’s charm.
