Indiana Tech and City Colleges of Chicago partner to offer bachelor’s degrees

CHICAGO, IL - Indiana Tech has announced a strategic partnership with the City Colleges of Chicago, aimed at providing a seamless pathway for students to transition from an associate degree to a bachelor's degree. This initiative is designed to enhance accessibility and affordability in higher education, aligning with both institutions' missions to support students in their academic and career aspirations.

The program allows students who begin their academic journey at one of the seven City Colleges of Chicago to transfer smoothly to Indiana Tech to complete their bachelor’s degree. This collaboration eliminates many of the traditional barriers associated with transferring credits, thereby streamlining the process and ensuring that students do not lose any credits they have already earned.

Key features of this partnership include guaranteed admission for City Colleges of Chicago graduates into specified programs at Indiana Tech, alongside financial incentives such as reduced tuition rates. The initiative also emphasizes comprehensive student support, including mentorship, career coaching, and access to Indiana Tech’s extensive resources and facilities. This support system is designed to foster academic success and prepare students for their future careers.

Indiana Tech’s Vice President for Enrollment Management, Steve Herendeen, emphasized that this partnership underscores the institutions’ commitment to facilitating student success and providing them with the skills and credentials needed for the workforce. City Colleges of Chicago Chancellor Juan Salgado also highlighted the significance of this collaboration in creating more educational opportunities for students across Chicago.

This partnership not only represents a significant step towards making higher education more accessible but also aligns with broader efforts to promote educational equity and economic mobility. By providing a clear and supportive pathway from an associate to a bachelor’s degree, Indiana Tech and City Colleges of Chicago are paving the way for more students to achieve their academic and professional goals.
